Science has shown that ‘your’ stress isn’t just contained to you.
Even if you think you are hiding it very well, people around you can feel your anxiety and perhaps even be affected by it. This is something most of us probably have felt on an intuitive level. Afterall, we are sentient creatures and part of our spidey sense is being able to “feel” out different environments and people. (You all know how it feels uncomfortable to walk into a room where people have been arguing).
I know that you are probably thinking... "I get so overwhelmed at times that I don’t even have the capacity to think about how this is affecting others..." Maybe that’s the problem.
Have you ever stopped to ask yourself:
-What is the consequence of your stress and anxiety?
-And if you are someone who manages or works with other people, how does “YOUR” stress affect your relationships (both personal and professional)?
-What are you doing about it?
Before you start getting really down on yourself,
I want to tell you that:
while anxiety is contagious… so is CALM.
Have you ever gone to a place where people have been meditating or praying?
More often than not, it’s peaceful. It’s quiet. And whatever stress you come with diminishes, because of the calm environment around you.
You literally absorb the feeling of peace.
Here’s the thing:
Calm is not an abstract concept that is unattainable.
It is actually very accessible, for everyone, no matter what you have gone through in your life. It’s something that you can learn, feel, and practice.
You just need some support to learn how.
You probably already can guess what I am going to say…
It begins with your breath.
Breathing slowly and evenly is your gateway to calm.
That’s why I teach this stuff.
Begin with Breath is more than just a breathing class, because the way you breathe determines the way you live.
So, by changing the way in which you breathe, you open to a whole new way of being in the world. Once you feel calm in your own body and it feels good, I can guarantee that there is no going back.
How you breathe is not just about you…
Your capacity to regulate your nervous system, stay calm under pressure, directly affects everyone around you and this is more true if you are in a position of power.
What you project in the world is what the world becomes.
