Dear Reader
Over 20 years ago, I was introduced to meditation and the practices from the Kundalini yoga tradition. I would show up, multiple times a year in destinations all over the world, for long arduous days of super challenging meditations and what most people would call “weird” practices—ones that profoundly challenged how I thought about myself and the world.
And every time, I would leave feeling incredible and changed.
For years, I woke up at 4:30 AM to practice with the rising sun. I learned the hard, worthwhile work of disciplining the mind. People often asked me why I did it—or told me I was a little extreme for doing so. But I knew in my bones that it was good for me, even if there were days I didn’t feel like showing up to practice.
Fast forward. What happens when you show up every day? What happens when you do this for 30 days, for 90 days, for a year, for 10 years?
What you do becomes your habit.
This habit becomes your way of life.
The beauty is: you get to choose where you place your energy and attention.
You get to choose what habits you adopt and practice throughout your days.
My teachers always told me these practices were given specifically for these times. That we’d need a nervous system as strong as steel to make it through. I didn’t fully understand that before 2020. Life was hectic, sure—but in a normalized, manageable kind of way.
But now… it’s 2025. And I would say this with certainty: developing a strong nervous system and a steady mind are the most important skills that you need to get through.
The best part?
These are skills you can learn.
You can practice.
And once you’ve strengthened your own center, you can share these skills with others.
All those mornings, all that practice—it didn’t mean life stopped affecting me. It just meant I could find my way back to calm more quickly and easily because I knew how.
And in these times, I think we can all agree that CALM is your most precious commodity.
Let’s practice together.
